University High School forward Jhordan McGuire talks about her summer, upcoming high school season, camps, and favorite concerts.
IM: How has the summer been going with your high school team?
JM: The summer has been going great so far in my opinion. our team is already slowly learning to figure each other out even with the new team members. I love the team community and can’t wait for a great rest of the season with this group of girls.
IM: You have played well all spring do you feel you are getting back as close to 100%?
JM: I feel I am very close to 100%, but I don’t think I have reached the peak of what I can really do. I think that when I am allowed to take my leg brace off I’ll be faster in my moves and also going up and down the court.
IM: After tearing your ACL last summer how have you prepared to get the knee stronger than it was before you tore it?
JM: As far as making my knee stronger and more versatile the biggest thing for me to do is the reps, so all of the drills, scrimmages and games we had in the spring has helped with my muscle memory and getting used to all of the basketball movements again.
IM: You have a lot to prove this summer what parts of your game will you try and show the coaches during the July evaluation period?
JM: I plan on showing coaches is more of a leadership role on my team and taking a wider variety of shots.
IM: We know you are attending PGC camp coming up. Tell us what you are looking to get out of that camp?
JM: I am looking forward to better my game and being around people with a similar mindset and goal. I hope that it improves my dribbling and guard like duties so that I can be more of a versatile player on the court.
IM: Your high school team has a lot of experienced seniors and could be in position to make a deep run. What are your thoughts on that?
JM: our team this year is put together so perfectly; we have all the pieces to the team we need to take it all the way. I have absolutely no doubt that we will win championships this year because we are focused on the goal and we’re already taking the steps that need to be done to accomplish them
IM: You love attending concerts, what has been the best concert you have been to so far this summer?
JM: so far my favorite concert has been Post Malone, but I think the Chris Brown concert will blow all of the other concerts out of the water.
