Abby Abel was a member of the 2015 class. A stand out player at Carmel High School that earned roster spot at Purdue as a player for four years. After her playing days she joined the Purdue staff as a Graduate Assistant under Coach Sharon Versyp. After her stint coaching at Purdue she returned to the Magic as a head coach. Abby was the Director of the Jr. Magic program for grades 5-8th. Abby currently serves as the head trainer of our skill and development team.

  1. Playing with Indy Magic helped me…

Gain confidence on and off the court, learn to compete at a high level, and develop a lifelong love for the game. It also taught me the value of hard work, discipline, and being part of a team.

  1. One thing I learned at Indy Magic that I still use today is…

The importance of putting in the work when no one is watching. Talent can only take you so far; consistency, effort, and a willingness to learn are what set you apart.

  1. I would recommend Indy Magic to a young player because…

It’s an opportunity to grow not only as a basketball player but also as a person. The lessons you learn, the relationships you build, and the confidence you gain carry over into every aspect of life. Some of the relationships you build at this level last long after your playing days are over, which makes the experience even more special.
